Have you ever wanted to search Hype Machine right from your Firefox 2.x browser? You can!
Just click on the Google (or other engine logo) in your search box and pick “Add Hype Machine”!
After that, you’ll be able to select Hype Machine as one of your search engines in that box! This has been available for a few months, but we totally forgot to write about it.

calm down people! just added it to my PC at work (Firefox 2.0.0.3) – couldn’t do at home on my Mac (same browser) – maybe that’s the issue? anyway, nice feature!

s’easy chaps – if its not currently shown in your drop-down list go to manage search engines (at the bottom of the drop-downlist) click ‘get more search engines’ which will link to mozilla – the hype machine isn’t currently appearing in the list of mozilla engines add-ons but at the bottom of that page is a link to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/ (in fact you can probably go straight there from this url).
once at the mycroft project site enter http://non-standard.net into the search field and it will provide you with the plug-in for hypemachine immediately.

Actually, it didn’t appear at first for me, but I figured out why it didn’t work. Make sure you go to Hypemachine’s website and click on the search field as if you were going to search the site. Then, follow the instruction as the option to add Hypemachine will now be there.

make sure your on the hype machine main page.
THEN type in “add hype machine” WITHOUT hitting return.
look at the pull down menu at the very bottom.
