This past week we’ve been busy fixing lots of things around the site. Here’s what’s up:
- If you use Safari on a PowerPC (and sometimes Intel) Mac, we no longer crash your browser! We are sorry for doing that before; it was totally not personal. Tech details here (Thanks Chirag!)
- If you’re using Safari or IE6, save yourself. But our excellent badge page works as it should again, so go play!
- The site is also a ton faster which we are super-happy about!
Oh yeah, we’ve also re-designed how tracks appear on the site to emphasize what’s important, and make everything easily accessible. Check this out:
Now you’ve got easy links to buy the song you are looking at, or check out who heard or loved this song. Click “Fans”, and it looks like this:
You can switch the display back by clicking “Download” again. Of course you can still favorite the blog that wrote about the track by clicking the heart next to its name — “78s“, in this case.

Let me comment on the nice site you’ve put together. I am totally new to all of this “sharing site” business, as I am sure, so many others. Suggest you have a tab that says…for newbees….or 1st timers….etc. I am working in Vietnam teaching the needy here and have been out of the loop sort of speaking for quite some time. So help a old teacher that wants to find the loop again.

no, you broke stuff.
player won’t load, and i can’t login or sign up both just refresh the page.
i use Firefox 2.0.0.11. Flash block deactivated, still not working.
radio works just fine though, except that the now playing thing won’t update. not sure if it did that before though.
am i the only one with this problem?

Hype Machine continues to get better and better!
One small request: could you please add a volume control to the Radio? I listen to hypem on headphones all day at work, and have to turn my computer volume down to 2 just to listen to the Hype Radio at a reasonable level.

I’ve been with this website for quite a while and I just love how far this site and you’ve four have come. Amazing site, I honestly don’t trust any other place to hear the best new music. It’s almost like the Collective Underground Music Scene streaming right to me.

Hmm.. the player doesn’t seem to be able to load tracks now, no matter which browser I use. I’ve tried the most recent builds of Safari, Firefox, and Camino; no dice. Also, PLEASE.. bring back a way to see the whole playlist in the pop-up player!
