Hype Machine’s been tracking music discussed on blogs since 2005, bubbling up the most popular tracks of the moment in our Popular charts. We monitor what the Hype Machine community is favoriting, which artists are being posted most frequently, and what’s getting tweeted.
But there was one part of the music landscape we hadn’t been tracking—videos. YouTube, which also launched in 2005, has become the preferred channel for many labels and artists to announce their new releases. Bloggers may have been talking about them, but they weren’t being recognized on Hype Machine—until now.
This is our new Videos chart:
It collects videos being posted most frequently by blogs in our list, and we hope it gives a more complete view of what’s happening in music right now. As usual, you can play the tracks, visit the blogs, and read their posts.
Try it out, let us know what you think!

A-MA-ZING! The site is getting better with every update.
Awesome! I was trying to develop something like that for myself but I see You were faster – thanks anyway !
As a loyal member of the Hype Machine since 2007 it’s great to this new feature!
As a follow-up. You should add a rating system to the videos as soon as possible (either the traditional “heart” to save or something else). The beauty of the site has always been the way it democratized relevant music. Adding a feature for the viewers to engage with the Billboard would be great. There are so many ways you could blow this out.
1) I just sat down to watch your old Hype TV page and this is the update I find! Perfect!! 😀
2) Make this work with your Chromecast and your iOS app
3) (and this might be complicated) Allow users to view the videos associated with the regular Hype Machine most popular list.
4) You all are awesome.

Love this addition. Should index vimeo videos as well though and, even though soundcloud (and bandcamp) have become the de facto audio platforms, I still think HM should expand to index music on some other major streaming platforms, most notably Audiomack and Hulkshare.
Is this a joke or what? Half of the videos in the chart are lyrics video or audio video.
WE WANT REAL MUSIC VIDEOS!!!
The internet is rough in 2015, Gabriel, but this is what we have. :/
Ian: it does index Vimeo, but they are a bit more rare.
Thanks so much for the update. Great way to keep getting better. I’m looking forward to see what is coming next!
