Undomondo is a great choice – fantastically eclectic & passionate!
Two others you might have considered – both less wide-ranging than Undo, but each brilliant at mining their niches: disquiet & mapsadaisical…
Julian
LMYE
Donnaslut and Lovefingers. Also two eclectic blogs to mostly find special old songs.
Enjoy!
A brand spankin’ new one is the Ampeater Review. Kinda a new twist on the whole blog thing–does reviews of “digital 7-inch” recordings every day. Full disclosure, I’m totally involved in it. Aaah, the truth comes out. Anyways, it’s a pretty cool site and I’m really psyched to be a part of it all. Definitely worth checking out. Every band on the site is either unsigned or just really underexposed. A great place to find totally new music. Official Launch party’s tonight (Oct 27th) @ Pianos in NYC–7pm to midnight.
Thank you for researching these blogs. It’ll be fun to explore them.
And no, I’m not aggrieved – not in the slightest. 😉
the decibel tolls is pretty great. it’s kind of snarky, but they feature awesome weird and interesting music pretty often.
htttp://www.markspivey.co.uk is pretty immense. A decent variety of music and it seems to be fresh stuff everyday.
kidcityblog.com…
major dub and wompage. great remixes. wake up.
http://flickinspit.blogspot.com/
BEST BLOG EVER.
that’s all.
this one is pretty eclectic. http://happenstanceradio.blogspot.com/
some English speaking guy in Barcelona it looks like, author doesn’t seem to talk about himself but he’s doing a great job
I think definitely the best music blog that I check everyday, and it is always on most popular on hypem is http://www.themusicninja.com.. I love it!!
Amen to Swan Fungus, WFMU, and Awesome Tapes From Africa. Props for giving those people the recognition they deserve. I’m not familiar with the rest, but I’m sure they’re worth checking out if they’re on the same list.
Hey All:
In case you didn’t already know, strongly recommend http://indierockcafe.com – consistently awesome indie music and free legal MP3, plus really great playlists/mixes and features of up and coming bands
2 of my favorites that don’t get enough play are http://whiteminstrelshow.com & http://thisisradar.blogspot.com/
Kinda leftfield genre wise, but they always put up stellar remixes & excellent electro/disco nuggets.
Challah.
I guess you have to be consciously eclectic/hip to get noticed. I’ll take good writing + great music any day, which is why I like http://sideatrack1.com – tho it’s probably not for the under 30 crowd.
VERY nice list! I’ve been watching WFMU and Swan Fungus for a while now. Just caught on to Undomondo recently which informed me about this top ten list. The rest are just as great I’m sure. It does get tiring with the same artists popping up here frequently. These blogs really stand out.
http://WWW.DAYBOWBOW.NET
awesome site for north texas music info
http://bbblankblog.blogspot.com/
i get a bunch of good mixes from there.
http://welistenforyou.com
http://audioporncentral.com of course 🙂
Thanks for the inclusion on the list Hype Machine. I’ll throw a couple in the hat that I think are under-appreciated gems:
– Killed in Cars (http://killedincars.blogspot.com/) without a some of the finest music criticism of some of the most obscure music you can find. Paul really knows music.
– Music Matters (http://kevinoliver.wordpress.com/) has a keen eye on the music scene in the south and Kevin is a great writer, to boot.
– I slept in these clothes (http://isleptintheseclothes.wordpress.com/) is just fabulous.
I have to agree with Kevin, http://www.indierockcafe.com is one of the best new indie music blogs out there. i visit it almost every day and there is always something dope on there – plus great features of bands, videos and tons of hand-picked free, legal MP3s. Underrated music blog by miles.
If you haven’t heard yet of dancingastronaut.com then it’s about time you checked it out.
Thanks for the compliment from Jason, above…Though I like to say that Music That Matters is a blog about music “From a southern perspective”, whatever that means. I cover stuff from all over–got a comment the other day from a band from Paraguay I wrote about a while back, for example. thanks also for the list of blogs in the original post up there, some good stuff in that list. I’ll add http://www.bitemefanboy.wordpress.com, which is a music blog called Old Fart At Play; he posts incredible amounts of full album mp3s for some pretty obscure stuff.
my one is pretty awesome, visit it!
won’t someone please visit it……..
Check out this for something really different – http://anegativenarrative.com.
It claims to not be a blog, or a portfolio, but a blortfoliog!
It interviews bands and they have to submit their answers by photo. Plus it gives away a free MP3 download with each band’s photo album.
Innovative and nicely strung together!
Hypem, thanks for the discovers !
I love the french music blog – http://www.butwehavemusic.com – for french and inde music.
Danger! Danger! Ofc, only mp3-blog representing Finland.
Interesting finds!
One of my favorites in the music blog What’s On The Hi-Fi! http://www.whatsonthehifi.com
One of my favourite blogs is actually quite new: ‘My Fave Bit’, all about the author’s favourite part in a song. Really original idea and I like how he goes through every genre – indie, rock, heavy rock, classical, even film music: http://myfavebit.blogspot.com/
A must see music/MP3 blog. Good stuff: http://theirbatedbreath.wordpress.com/
http://spacedoodoo.tumblr.com
an NYC snob rambles and provides mp3s from musicians like fever ray, nosaj thing, the horrors, syl johnson, ghostface killah, neon indian, etc.
I LOVE http://www.detailsofmylife.net
You guys should check it out.
I like http://teepoo.blogspot.com a new blog I found that has a lot of potential.
http://www.strikesparksanywhere.co.uk is pretty cool. Nice little site with a variety of reviews/interviews etc!
Kid City Blog
Chemical Jump
EL3CTRO Night
And, / / / Kobra / / /
Add these to your blog roll please!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone!
I recommend a rlly rlly nice blog made in Mexico: http://www.insonaciones.com, they say about them: we’re “discovering and listening good music and not so well known”.
I was looking online and ran into this really sick blog called Nyce Tracks. I guess it’s sort of a spin off of really good music coming from NYC, but the music on it is soo good! They post some electronic and some Hip-hop, and their taste is excellent, I think. I’ve been following them for a couple months. You should check them out!
If you’re looking for some alternative or indie music that isn’t played a whole lot, check out

Perfect work you have done, this blog is really cool with fantastic information. I am really impressed and you do an appreciative work. Please share something more.
Naturally I rate my own blog the highest 🙂
It is quite old list but worth looking. I visited several from them and got some really exciting stuff about music. And especially awesome tape from Africa contains about African cultural music which is quite pleasing.
