Read about all of the features at http://hypem.com/iphone, and, oh, you’ve waited long enough—try it!
That is great news! Now I play the waiting game for the Android version.
May 11, 2011 12:37 pm
Ditto that! The site can load on android every now and then, but it’s less than ideal.
May 11, 2011 12:46 pm
YES! Finally. I’m super stoked about this.
May 11, 2011 1:20 pm
I’ve been waiting for this for a while but I think I’ll wait if I have to pay.
May 11, 2011 1:30 pm
Android ! The OS the most popular now. 🙂
May 11, 2011 2:07 pm
Try and make an app for laptop or mac users! would be hectic
May 11, 2011 8:21 pm
AWESOME! but does it scrobble?
May 11, 2011 11:20 pm
Ya, just read in the news Android is seeing 400000 new activations PER DAY, don’t waste your time with iOS! And make it free with ads, no way I’m paying, sorry
May 12, 2011 3:24 am
now since there is one for iOS PLEASE MAKE ONE FOR THE ANDROID OS!!!!
May 12, 2011 3:47 am
Great app – but would be awesome if you give the user the possibility to select his/her hearted songs – not only random ones.
On Android discussion:
Yea make one for android – just for fairness.
But I still think there are and will be more iOS users 😉 (See here why: http://isource.com/2011/05/09/apples-old-stuff-outselling-androids-shiny-new-stuff/)
May 12, 2011 3:57 am
Eh guys, the mobile ads are awful, how do you live with them? :/
May 12, 2011 9:33 am
very big disappointment! not linked up to your hypem.com account. not possibly to search for artists and tracks. only ably to skip from current random song, to the next random song.
been waiting for this for a loooong time, only to be disappointed…:/
BUT, hypem.com is simply brilliant!
May 12, 2011 9:47 am
Is the app compatible for iOS 3.13? 4.0+ makes my phone slow down and I’d rather not waste my money on an app that won’t work on my phone.
May 12, 2011 10:15 am
@Anthony
+1 for no ads. I don’t mind the cost so long as the app sees constant updates. Having search primarily and then user account support is far more important than $3 for an app I’d use every day, IMO.
May 12, 2011 6:42 pm
@Anthony
Uhm, why did you (and the hypemachine staff) choose to no include a search feature?
I am using that a lot, kind off a dissapointment to not have that built in…
May 13, 2011 3:33 am
The app doesn’t work on my iPhone (version 3.1.3 though…)
Any idea why ?
May 13, 2011 9:22 am
I meant my “iPod Touch”.
May 13, 2011 9:23 am
Ok app, for a great site!
Would like to see a search function and also a scrobble feature for last.fm…
May 13, 2011 11:43 am
great app. only wish i could play my loved songs.
May 13, 2011 6:52 pm
The My Mix feature plays a mix of your subscriptions and loved songs together. The licenses we use prevent us from just playing your favorites only.
The scrobbling is being fixed.
May 13, 2011 7:01 pm
Excited the app is finally here, but could you please find a way to link it up the users account better:
-ability to see “MySongs”
-differentiate Favourited songs from the rest
May 14, 2011 1:11 pm
Love it!
But, could it be possible to make your first page of hearted songs (Most recent) available, in a compromise with the “licensepeople”? That would have been more than great! Perhaps this page with the most hearted songs could be made offline also?
May 15, 2011 8:32 am
I hear there is no way to listen to your hearted songs or subscriptions. As well as no search function. I will not pay $3 for an app without those two things. I love hypem, visit multiple times daily – but there are other music apps out there that are free that can give you even more range of music. Digitally Imported music has every type of electonic genre you could guess and the music is always original and usually unheard of…. get your ish together hype… remember that you’re a site for your customers.
May 15, 2011 8:55 am
I would do a one time payment for the sweetness of a Hype Machine Android app 🙂
May 15, 2011 9:46 am
What I don’t get is how the licensing allows you to access any song you want at any time on the website, but not through the app. I am just going to continue using the website on my iPhone. Its not as seamless as it could be, but it provides much more functionality than the app. I am fine that I spent three dollars on the app only because I use the site quite a bit and want to support the site, but I wont be using the app very much at all.
May 16, 2011 2:16 pm
This is great news, but in reality I was very disappointed.
I’ve been a solid HypeM user for years now, so thought I’d pay the 3 bucks for the app (only ever get free ones or $1.19). It was not worth it though, at least hopefully not yet.
The worst thing is that I can’t even play my favourite songs, which are one of the main reasons I come back to the site. It wasn’t easy to work around the app either.
I may as well have saved my coinage and kept visiting the website through Safari, which is what I have been doing since the download.
Please do make it better, and live up to the ‘Hype’ 🙂

May 16, 2011 10:48 pm
yeah not working on 3.1.3…
And sad that I cant link my account.
May 17, 2011 7:52 am
Bring us an Android version! And let us browse our favorited songs and popular songs on it! I will love you forever and pay money for it!
May 17, 2011 12:50 pm
Great news! Hopefully this means it’s only a matter of time until I can listen to Hypem on my Droid phone!
May 17, 2011 5:21 pm
At first I was very disappointed that I could not access my playlist at all. But, I truly understand the difficulty of working with the music labels, particularly when you are a service powered by music blogs. I can’t imagine the amount of work that went into this iPhone app so I’m very grateful.
Also, this app grows on you, especially if you’re a fanatical user of the website. You know that you like the music available on music blogs and even though the app plays some pretty random music – the chances of enjoying that music are much higher than putting Grooveshark on random. Also I love the ability to play by genre – I think it’s fantastic.
This app has proven to be perfect for finding new music while on a long drive somewhere. Thanks Hype Machine!
May 18, 2011 1:15 pm
Isn’t it about time you got this out on Android?!
May 18, 2011 5:11 pm
Blimey, the entitlement that people are gushing out here…. “there’s no way I’m paying $3 for an app that doesn’t…. “. Right before they fork over forty bucks for an eighth. Bozos.
May 18, 2011 11:47 pm
this ain’t canada bigtime
May 19, 2011 2:21 pm
@bittimetopbanna maybe people get more value out of a forty dollar eighth then a 3 dollar app that does nothing they want… So you sir are the bozo.
May 19, 2011 6:40 pm
wish i could edit my last post. I assume that it wont ever work on ios 3.x because it probably uses backgrounded music, which is 4.x exclusive
May 19, 2011 6:43 pm
Android Android Android!!!
May 20, 2011 9:37 am
Yeeeeaaaaaah. Doesn’t work on 3.1.3. I really wish that had been specified before I bought it.
May 21, 2011 5:57 pm
Android.
Enough said.
May 23, 2011 1:11 pm
BlackBerry – pretty pretty please
May 25, 2011 11:14 am
3$? Free would be nice 😀
May 25, 2011 11:11 pm
+1 for android!!!
May 26, 2011 12:17 pm
Why is iOS always first?
Android please.
May 28, 2011 12:20 pm
Android!:) please!
May 29, 2011 7:28 am
So basically it seems like hypemachine is failing to reach a great demand within the data mobile market.
Key points:
1. Need for Android which commands a larger market share that iphone’s.
2. Lack of similarities to the website, ability to access member pages and search as well as like songs.
3. A paid app for a website that is free? doesn’t seem right. keep your business model fluid and offer advertising on the mobile market.
4. Overall integration of the website and mobile application – they need to work together and not be separate entities.
Go back and try again, hurry up because the hype might be gone soon.
May 29, 2011 8:48 pm
Love the app.
Only thing is I ‘love’ tracks for listening later on my laptop then when i go on my iPod I cant play my ‘loved’ songs from my account on my iPod =[ This would be a lot easier. Also to be given a list of the popular tracks and to be given the choice of which one to play.
Email me please if you’re doing this 🙂
May 30, 2011 4:19 pm
i can’t find the way to subscribe to blogs from the app
help please
June 1, 2011 12:10 pm
Check out an app called hype! For android. Its great.
June 1, 2011 2:50 pm
what about blackberry users! 🙁
June 2, 2011 3:04 am
Awfully disappointed to find that this app doesn’t work on my iPod Touch, after such a long wait, and especially after a fee.
I hope you’ll change the app info to specify this so as not to disappoint more of your loyal users.
June 3, 2011 9:34 am
I really love hypem. apparently the app is worthless, idk I dont have an iphone. I just wish there was some way to friend people on the site already who have my taste in music, since I use this site to find new and great music. I can follow artists or blogs but not other users. once that is implemented I would be willing to pay for it.
June 4, 2011 11:35 am
The first screenshot on on the review shows “My Songs”… is it fake? Because I can’t find it in the actual application???

June 10, 2011 6:08 pm
Free version of “Latest Hype” for Android is available in the app store now. Supports most Hypem functionality including loved songs.

This app is just terrible… so diappointed
got my iphone today and was so excited that there was a hypem app that i picked this up immediately and it’s awful.
No loved tracks, no ability to follow friends and it keeps crashing on 4.3.3
if i could, i’d ask for a refund but i can’t so instead, you have lost an avowed user of your site. will not be recommending you any more as i have been.
June 20, 2011 4:31 am
Maybe creating a more effective streaming capability based on a users desktop or tablet experience, doesn’t flow the way it could if there was even at minimum a base layer adaptive css instead of an app, buuut just sayin. one interactive designers thoughts.
June 20, 2011 7:16 pm
I’m sure I read that this should scrobble but doesn’t seem to be playing ball with iphone4. Any clues appreciated – or a hypeM blog post even better! Thanks guys, just love the app so far.
June 21, 2011 3:48 pm
Hi Hypem team, I just found your site, and I already love a lot of songs :). I also purchased the appl for Iphone, but unfortunately I was not even able to navigate within the appl. once I clicked on blog, the appl freezed. I had to delete the appl, and payed 2.99USD for nothing. Not very happy with that. Would be nice if I could get any customer support on this.
June 25, 2011 2:26 am
Failed to open it. Any solutions?
July 4, 2011 1:48 pm
What powers the IPhone application? I see you guys are using App.net but I swear I read somewhere that its written in Sproutcore or some other HTML5 technology — I just can’t seem to find it! Looks great!
September 6, 2011 6:00 pm
23 Mentions of wanting an Android App out of the currently 58 comments. Add my want for the app on that platform to the pile I guess.
September 9, 2011 6:27 am
Just had a chance to play with the Android equivalent “Hype!” as Anthony suggested.
It’s fantastic!
Well worth a download and to top it off, it’s free!
September 16, 2011 9:57 am
I actually had the same problem with the playlist and all those stuff. But had it dealt it immediately. Good thing this was out now.
September 18, 2011 1:03 am
I don’t understand why a blog or website that is as much visited as The Hype Machine is, to not have a team of people putting out an amazing app for both android and iphone. In todays era, well into the new millennium, it boggles me to see so many apps come out and then are just a disappointment. With advertisements that actually slow down your phone and pop up some dumb stuff that your not even remotely interested in. You need to produce an app that is as close to the websites/blogs that we love so much. To disregard this information will always be an epic FAIL!
September 18, 2011 11:42 am
I feel like a little kid @ xmas.. eventually the app and the website will be seamless. Ill pay the $3.00 Thanks Hype!
September 21, 2011 10:18 am
Please, give us an android app!!!
September 25, 2011 3:06 pm

October 17, 2011 2:48 am
ANDROID APP. now. please.
October 26, 2011 11:04 am
Please make available the songs we have hearted on the website!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 8, 2012 5:18 pm
There is an android app, it’s free, and called Hype! (yes, exclamation mark)
Which is sad, because it’s far better than the paid iPhone app in every single way. Let me tell you why, on the android app, you can view the music by lists, popular, recent, 3 days, 7 days, no remixes, twitter, same as the website, just like the website you can browse, sample, and listen to as many songs as you want.
Now, the iPhone app (paid version) is terrible.
You can’t view the top rated, most recent, or any lists whatsoever, you have to select a genre (or one of those lists) and it will start playing that song, but no list of songs to chose from, if you try hitting next it just tells you that you can’t skip that many songs because of licensing issues (it’s really low too, like 5 or 3 songs), there’s no browsing or selecting whatsoever, I’m incredibly unimpressed, if a third party android developer did it a million times better and made it free (with unintrusive ads on the bottom), you guys should be able to get it together well enough to create something tolerable for the iPhone. Really disappointed.
January 16, 2012 9:38 am
Great app if it still worked. I have an iPhone 3GS with OS v5.1.1. The hypem stopped working a few weeks ago after a update, and even after restarting the app it still doesn’t run. The app’s intro screen appears and that’s all I get. Any tips?
May 16, 2012 10:57 pm
The iPhone app was working great until the most recent update. Now it constantly hangs, especially on 3G rather than Wifi. 🙁 Super bummed that this isn’t working even close to well anymore, as I love listening to it on my iPhone all the time! Now it’s frustrating enough that I just don’t use it very much anymore. What happened?!
June 13, 2012 3:13 pm
Horse Poo!!! Why doesn’t this app work anymore? Waited for three app updates to post this. iPhone 3GS iOS5.1. Please fix this!!
July 12, 2012 12:19 pm
please, an app for Blackberry 😉
