What good does it do? The commercial bloggers are so busy spamming the hypemachine, they don’t even bother writing a reasonable entry. just bla bla bla…. *post entire 50 tracks of personal collection* just because. It’s all about gobbing up space now.
There should be a blog rating system that encourage quality view. (even a simple. I like/I don’t like. will do wonder.

Not sure which “commercial” bloggers you are referring to, but I do see a bit of the spamming issue.
The rating system would be great, I just haven’t had a chance to get that up and running.

well, my first comment is pretty useless. Let me do a retake.
Obviously the amount of track people will put into hypemachine will only increase as people are more enthuse doing bigger project and the blog numbers increase.
but the front page is turning blurry fast for regular eyes.
so how about ‘visual cue’? Maybe something subtle to help eyes navigate and judge faster.
1. instead of white/grey/white/grey… who about after a single blog long post, the next line will not be white/grey but paste green or blue.
2. instead of long strip of grey/white. the tip of the stip changes color according to the blog ‘tags’ (eg, if a blog tag their post as “punk” or “electronica”, the tip will turn Blue or Green)
Basically, a user can navigate and scan the front page faster without the need to read title–artists, but color cue first…
I would imagine, as Hypemachine blogroll hits several thousands, things will go even crazier..

update. Changing the page length positively affects the visitor behavior on my end.

squashed – you are definitely right about the longer posts, I am working on it.

Anthony, although there might be issues with visual esthetics on your site, I would like to reitterate what a wonderful, and useful application the Hype Machine is. It has changed the way I discover new music in a way that would be hard for me to replicate should it ever cease to exist. For one reason or another, I juts never found the other aggregators appealing. I guess yours was the first one I found, and I’ve been using it ever since.
And it amazes me that the accolades are not pouring in. And I don’t mean just from other bloggers. I mean, unless I just don’t read about them because it is off my radar, it would seem to me that the Hype Machine should be receiving all kinds of awards and recognition.

Thank you, that’s very kind!
I should mention the fact that the Hype Machine was included in the Observer Monthly’s list of best music sites on the net: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/story/0,,1729834,00.html, came in at #6, which is not bad when one considers the sites ahead.
