Trying out something different:
On the front page with tracks or posts, try the “show fewer” link right next to the date.
This will show only the posts and tracks by the top 50 music blogs. To get back to the normal way of looking at things, click “show more” on those pages, right in the same spot.
i like this, but another “less is more” idea: sometimes i’m just quickly scanning hype machine and it’s annoying when 1 blog posts like 20 songs. what if you had a “show less” link that just showed the last track posted by the latest updated blogs — or something to that effect?
keep up the great work!

I really don’t like this feature, especially when the top50 list doesnt make much sense to begin with. It gives smaller blogs even less of a chance to be noticed.
I think Travis’s idea is a much better way to do the Less/More thing, it’s terribly annoying to see a blog post 20 songs filling the whole list, and this doesnt get fixed by the current less/more thing.
Otherwise, thanks for all the traffic!

Haldan – You are right, Travis’ idea is a good one, I am working on implementing it in a way that makes sense.
As far as the top50 list goes, the default front page still shows posts by all blogs on the Hype Machine. The “fewer tracks” option is there for people who feel overwhelmed by the volume of new postings and want a quick way to filter through some of it.

It’s not one blog posting 20 songs that bugs me (although I wish they could restrain themselves) it’s when they post 20 songs by the *same artist*. Would be nice if it could show “Jellyfish – New Mistake | +20 more”, to give a recent example.
Just my $.02
